re-Q5 given honors at CES

Las Vegas Convention Center/North Hall, Booth 2401 — (January 7, 2008) — re-Q today announced that the re-Q5, re-Q’s newest addition to its affordable lineup of OEM integration devices, has been given Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering honors in the “In-Vehicle Control/OEM Integration” Category at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. re-Q5 restores bass removed by pre-programmed equalization in stock headunits by automatically improving the signal after restoring the bass that is lost to front left, front right, rear left, rear right, and subwoofer speakers.

re-Q5 senses when pre-programmed filtering of low frequencies occurs in stock headunits as the volume increases, then automatically restores the proper amount of bass back into the signal to complement the higher frequencies. The re-Q5 ensures that aftermarket audio components perform at their optimum level, even when the factory headunit is used.

As an honoree in the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards program, re-Q5 is recognized as one of the consumer electronics industry’s most innovative products. The independent, expert judging teams evaluating the various categories in the Innovations program rate products based on their engineering qualities, aesthetic and design attributes, function, user value, and unique features. Honorees in the program are featured in the Innovations Showcase at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian during 2008 International CES.

“Car manufacturers often protect original equipment speakers by artificially limiting the low frequency output of their amplifiers when experiencing high volume. Trouble is, when audio enthusiasts upgrade their vehicles with premium speakers, the headunit is still trying to protect them—resulting in less and less bass as the volume increases,” said John Ivey, Senior VP for re-Q. “The re-Q5, like its sister product, the re-Q, automatically corrects the signal from the headunit to provide the best quality and performance while also maintaining valued OE features like steering wheel controls, CD controls, iPod integration, OnStar and navigation.”

The re-Q5 restores factory system performance at a significantly lower price than other OEM integration products. Some competitive products include unnecessary equalization features and require their own volume control; others, like line level converters, allow a user to keep their factory controls but do not correct the factory sound system “bass roll-off” that is programmed into the system to protect OEM speakers from distortion and failure. “Even with the use of a bass control knob, bass is still limited by the gain setting on the amplifier,” Ivey noted. “With the re-Q5, simply turning the headunit’s volume knob automatically adds the correct level of bass by sensing the signal level of the higher frequencies.”

Installation of the re-Q5 is easy thanks to Smart Engage Circuitry that eliminates the need for a remote turn-on wire to both the re-Q and the vehicle’s amplifiers. re-Q can be tucked away from sight if desired, or displayed prominently in a custom install due to its stylish cosmetics. Once installed and tuned, no further adjustment or maintenance is necessary.

By using a re-Q device and retaining the factory headunit, no holes are left in the dash, interior cosmetics remain intact, and steering wheel controls are fully functional. What’s more, the re-Q and re-Q5 allow necessary data for some vehicle’s electrical systems to continue to transfer through the headunit. re-Q5 also includes an auxiliary input that can be used to integrate iPods or other add on sources to your existing system easily.

During 2008 CES, re-Q products are being exhibited in Booth 2401 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. re-Q products are also marketed through a network of authorized dealers located across the U.S. and internationally as well as on the World Wide Web.
