Delphi hardware on the all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan
Chrysler the only manufacturer to offer this feature for 2008 model year
LAS VEGAS - Delphi Corporation is providing the hardware that enables Chrysler LLC to be the first and only manufacturer to offer SIRIUS Backseat TVTM in its vehicle lineup in the 2008 model year. Delphi is showcasing its hardware this week at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall (#5206).
Using its satellite radio expertise and industry leadership position, Delphi is delivering the first hardware for the first customer in North America.
This hardware is the next wave of entertainment coming into vehicles. Using the same spectrum allocation as satellite radio, a digital audio and video signal is sent to the vehicle, providing alternative entertainment options for rear-seat passengers with three channels of family-friendly TV, live 24/7 from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.
In addition to the all-new Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, this feature also will be available on the 2008 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum, Jeep® Commander and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
"We're proud to be working with Chrysler Group to help usher in the next phase of in-car entertainment," said Ken Erickson, Delphi product business unit executive, entertainment & communications. "With this video technology, passengers will be able to bring new entertainment content directly into their vehicle. They won't have to watch and carry around the same DVDs anymore."

Delphi helped revolutionized the satellite radio business in 2002 when it introduced the first OEM-installed satellite radio receiver. Delphi has produced an industry-leading 18 million units since production began on the technology five years ago.
"We want to be known as our customer's best supplier, and helping introduce game-changing technologies to the marketplace is one way we help achieve this goal," Erickson said. "We're proud to be able to continue our tradition of bringing exciting products to consumers."
In the last decade alone, Delphi has pioneered or led the introduction of multi-speaker, multi-amp premium audio, CD playbacks, DVD rear seat video, MP3 playbacks, advanced TV reception systems and satellite radio into the market. Delphi supplies both OEM and retail hardware for both domestic satellite radio providers. Since beginning production in 1936, Delphi has manufactured more than 283 million radios and introduced an array of new technologies.
