Categories: Industry News Multimedia Systems
The new 2008 Ford Focus catches the eye in more ways than just its boldly restyled exterior and redesigned interior.
Expect to experience improved driving dynamics with revised suspension and chassis tuning, as well as a quieter, more comfortable and refined interior environment. Also, Focus brings exciting innovative technology in the form of features such as the available Ford SYNC™ system.
All in all, inside and out, there's a whole lot to enjoy in the new 2008Ford Focus. So read on and get the whole story.
Restyled Exterior
The new 2008 Ford Focus is sleeker and has a more solid, muscular stance. A front fender applique integrated just behind the front wheel, a higher beltline, flared wheel arches, chrome horizontal 2-bar grille with integrated headlamps, sharp character lines running from the front fenders to the sculpted rear deck — these distinctive styling cues make the new 2008 Focus a dynamically bold statement of what Ford styling is all about today.
Refined Interior
The interior of the new Focus is finished with materials carefully selected to create a more upscale, open and inviting atmosphere. The ergonomic "top-of-dash" display puts important information at eye level, keeping your eyes on the road. The center console is larger and there's extra space in front for storage. Newly designed door panels have larger storage bins. And there's an expanded list of options, including Ford's exclusive SYNC™ system, SIRIUS® satellite radio, Ambient Lighting, and many more.
Power and Economical 2.0L Duratec I-4
The 2.0L Duratec 20 I-4 is engineered with dual overhead cams activating four valves per cylinder. For 2008 this powerplant features new air intake system, cooling and exhaust systems designed to improve smoothness, responsiveness and efficiency. You can go a long way with its maximum EPA-estimated 35 miles-per-gallon highway rating.*
There's also the Duratec 20E offered in states that adopt California emissions standards, qualifying Focus as a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV).**
With both Duratec 2.0L versions, a 5-speed manual transmission is standard, with a 4-speed automatic available as an option.
Euro-Inspired Suspension
Engineers have given the new 2008 Focus a stiffer body structure than before, which allows for retuned suspension components to sharpen steering and handling characteristics while at the same time providing ride quality. This combination of stiff body structure and retuned suspension results in a feel of the road that is solid and also comfortable.
Complete Airbag Coverage
When it comes to passive safety protection, Ford Focus has you well covered. In addition to the dual-stage driver and front seat passenger airbags, every 2008 Focus comes with standard front seat-mounted side airbags as well as 1st- and 2nd-row side curtain airbags. That's a total of six airbags to enhance protection in certain front or side impacts. Always be sure to wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
Ford SYNC™, Ambient Lighting and Other Cool Features
The 2008 Ford Focus is now available with SYNC, an integrated, voice-activated communication and media system. You can access your music collection by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth® phone with simple voice commands. SYNC will even allow you to make music selections through your flash drive by voice command.† SYNC is optional in Focus SE and standard in the SES. Want to know more? Go to syncmyride.com.
High-performance stereo sound begins with an AM/FM system with an MP3-capable single-disc CD player, four speakers and audio input jack - standard on all models. A 6-disc in-dash CD changer is an option on Focus SE and SES. So is the Audiophile® System, which features an MP3-capable in-dash 6-disc CD player, four coaxial speakers and 8" subwoofer.
Available SIRIUS® satellite radio offers more than 130 channels of music, sports, news and talk right at your fingertips. What's more, the first 6-month subscription is complimentary. SIRIUS service is not available in Alaska or Hawaii. See your Ford Dealer for details.††
Focus SE and SES models offer an optional color-configurable Ambient Lighting feature. It lets the driver or front seat passenger change the color of light in the front and rear footwells and in the front and rear center console cupholders. Choose from a palette of seven colors (Red, Blue, Purple, Green, Aqua, White and Yellow) to suit your mood.
Two Body Styles, Three Models
2008 Focus comes in two bodystyles: a sporty 2-door coupe and a 4-door sedan. Focus styling for 2008 is bolder and more exciting than ever. And on the practical side, of course, both coupe and sedan have 60/40 rear fold-down seat backs for carrying long items that wouldn't fit in a conventional trunk.
The 2008 Focus lineup starts with the effective Focus S and moves up to the deluxe SE and the SES. These three great looking and well-equipped models can match anyone's budget and zest for driving fun.
