However, even if your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone is not shown here, it may still work with SYNC. Many existing mobile phones have not been tested yet and new ones are introduced frequently.

Will my media player work with SYNC?
The answer is likely: 'Yes!'. Most popular media players work with SYNC, including iPod®,* Zune, "PlaysForSure" players and most USB drives. Supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV and PCM.

In most cases, SYNC will be included as standard equipment on high-series models from Ford and Mercury-the Ford Edge Limited or Ford Focus SES, for example. On models where SYNC is optional, it will be priced at $395.

What are the "hands-free" advantages of SYNC?
Voice-activated, hands-free functionality means less distraction while driving. As both your mobile phone and music player are fully integrated, you're able to concentrate on the road. This is an especially smart solution as more and more states and jurisdictions outlaw driving while talking on a handheld phone.

What languages does SYNC understand?
SYNC's advanced voice-recognition system can be set to speak and respond to American English, Canadian French and North American Spanish.

Does SYNC's voice recognition system need to learn my voice?
For most users, SYNC's intelligent voice-recognition technology needs no "training" to recognize voices, regardless of who is speaking.

How do I use SYNC's voice-activation feature with my mobile phone?
Staying connected with hands-free mobile calling is easy. Simply say one of several voice commands and you're connected. For example, if you're calling your friend Jane, say "Call Jane," "Call Jane at home" or "Call Jane at work" and SYNC does the rest. If Jane's number isn't programmed into your mobile phone, just say "dial [digits]" and when you say the phone number, SYNC dials Jane. Wherever Jane is - you're connected.

How do I use SYNC's voice-activation feature to play digital music?
Hands-free digital music is at the tip of your tongue. Just say what you want and SYNC makes the music. Search, play and shuffle music with simple voice commands. SYNC understands artist names, track names, album names, genres and even the names of your favorite play-lists. Want to repeat music, play similar music or shuffle your music - SYNC's ready for your every command. Tell SYNC to play your favorite band, your favorite song, or mix it up and tell SYNC to shuffle and select music plays randomly. It's your music. SYNC plays it however you want.

Are voice commands the only way to operate my mobile phone and portable music player?
No. SYNC also gives you the option to operate your phone and music player via simple controls on the steering wheel and radio unit.

Do I need to specially configure my car's sound system to work with SYNC?
No. SYNC and your vehicle's cabin have been specifically tuned by professional acoustic engineers for optimum performance and sound reproduction. The audio playback environment inside a SYNC-equipped vehicle just may be the best you'll ever experience!

What happens if I receive a call while listening to music on my SYNC-connected digital music player?
SYNC will identify the caller and pause the music so you can hear and take the call.

Do I have to sign up with a specific wireless carrier or need a special phone to use SYNC?
You can use SYNC with a wide range of carriers throughout the country. The system will work with the vast majority of popular Bluetooth-enabled phones on the market today.

Is there a monthly fee to use SYNC?
There are no monthly fees to use SYNC aside from the regular fees you already pay your wireless phone provider for your particular calling plan.

What music players and formats does SYNC support?
SYNC is compatible with Apple iPod®, Microsoft ZuneTM, PlaysForSure portable music devices, most combination mobile phone/digital music players, as well as most USB drives. Supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, and PCM.

iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. ZuneTM is a trademark of the Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.

How do I recharge my music player's battery while in the car?
On most music players, the battery will start recharging anytime it is connected to the system's USB port while the vehicle is running. No separate charger is necessary.

What is the nature of the Ford/Microsoft relationship?
Ford and Microsoft worked closely to design and engineer SYNC, which is based on state-of-the art Microsoft auto software. Ford further developed and customized this technology to deliver in-car solutions that help drivers conveniently and reliably enjoy digital entertainment and communications while on the road. With the introduction of SYNC, Ford is proud to be the first and only automotive company to market this product in North America.

Can I update or enhance SYNC?
