C-Map Charts Power Nothstar M-Series & Explorer Series Chart Plotters
Advanced MAX Capabilities with Cutting Edge Northstar Performance
CAPE COD, MA - Electronic charting leader Jeppesen Marine has announced two new families of C-Map MAX-compatible GPS/chart plotters and multifunction units - 11 in all - from marine electronics innovator Northstar. These new solutions combine the advanced charting capabilities of MAX - including Flashing NavAids, Dynamic Animated Currents/Predictions, Aerial Photos, detailed C-Marina charts and much more - with the rugged performance and intuitive operation that have made Northstar a leading choice of boaters around the globe.
"The Northstar name has long been synonymous with ease of use, intuitive operation and reliable performance at sea," said Dennis Hogan, Sales & Marketing Director for Northstar parent company Brunswick New Technologies Marine Electronics (BNT ME). "It's exciting for us to offer a whole new range of products that combine this feature set with the latest C-Map MAX electronic chart technology," Hogan added.
Northstar developed its new M-Series to provide boaters with advanced multi-function performance in a low-profile form that compliments any dash or helm station. Available in two sizes, the 12" M-121 and 8.4" M-84 each feature a high-performance MAX-based chart plotter, a dual frequency echo sounder (available in 600W or 1kW), video capabilities, Smart Craft(tm) capabilities, AIS (Automatic Identification System) integration and compatibility with Northstar's High Definition Digital Radar.
This advanced system gives boaters all the information they need for an enhanced boating experience and presents this information on an easy-to- read, super-bright SVGA display with a 170 degree viewing angle. Large, easily identifiable keys provide swift menu navigation, while Northstar's variable four-way split screen and configurable one-touch "favorites" feature make it easy to view important data how, when and where you want it.
Northstar's new MAX-compatible Explorer Series brings renowned Northstar technology and features to owners of small boats. The Explorer line includes six new chart plotters - the Explorer 567, 557, 550, 550i and the 538 - with color LCD displays ranging from 3.8" to 6.4". The 567 and 557 (6.4" and 5" respectively) offer high-resolution full VGA color displays and AIS support; all Explorer chart plotters are Smart Craft enabled and come with cables, flush-mount kits and swivel-tilt mounting brackets.
The Explorer Series also includes three powerful combination units. The Explorer 660 features a 7.2" SVGA color LCD display, external GPS antenna, 50/200kHz fish finder and Smart Craft integration. The Explorer 657 offers the same features with a 5" high resolution VGA color display.
"Expanding our relationship with Northstar will provide a world of benefits to boaters, whether they're sailors, power cruisers or fishermen," said Ken Cirillo of Jeppesen Marine. "Our MAX charts are all about making boating safer and more enjoyable wherever your on-water adventures take you. Northstar has long been a leader in bringing boaters advanced features and reliable performance-with a user interface that makes navigation easy. It's a great match," added Cirillo.
