Miramar, FL-March 21 2007-On January 23, 2007, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued Patent #7,167,515 on the method and technology developed by JL Audio to interface with equalized OEM audio systems. This patent covers the automatic "un-equalization" of OEM signals via DSP-based processing.
Andy Oxenhorn, JL Audio's president stated: "These technologies are critical to the future of aftermarket audio, which is why we took the plunge and invested in their creation. We strongly believe that the Integration product category will continue to grow and become a staple in our industry."
The now-patented technology is in current use on JL Audio's CleanSweep® CL441dsp OEM Interface Processor (introduced and first sold in 2005) and will serve as the central technology of future JL Audio OEM interface products.
Manville Smith, JL Audio VP of Marketing and co-inventor of the patented technology said: "This patent is really important to us in that it protects our inventor's rights in the OEM interface technology we pioneered. JL Audio poured a lot of energy talent and resources into developing the CleanSweep® technology and this patent ensures that we will have legal protection against those who seek to copy it without our authorization."
