The concept

The Audi Q5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV and the second Audi model in the Q range after the full-size Audi Q7, which has been extremely well received by customers as the first luxury SUV from Audi.

The Audi Q5 will have great off-road ability. All models will feature a raised ride height and quattro four-wheel drive as standard, and with a chassis tuned for on-road handling, it will be sporty and fun to drive.

Inside, the cabin is derived from the new A5, but the Audi Q5 will have enough room to carry five adults in comfort. A real highlight of the interior is the Bang & Olufsen Sound System comprising fourteen custom-made loudspeakers, and offering a total output power of more than 500 watts delivered by 10 amplifiers.

Bang & Olufsen has developed a fully integrated in-car surround sound system supported by proprietary True Image^TM technology. Specifically tuned for the system in the Audi Q5, True Image^TM turns 2-channel stereo signals into perfect 7.1-channel surround sound, distributing both channels to all loudspeakers in the car - each with its own particular delay and level. The Bang & Olufsen True Image^TM Digital Signal Processing also optimises multichannel formats such as DVD-Audio into 7.1 channels for vehicle playback, providing drivers and passengers the chance to enjoy their favourite music DVDs while on the move.

The Bang & Olufsen Sound System uses a microphone integrated in the ceiling of the cockpit to measure changing noise conditions, and automatically adapts the volume and equalizing accordingly. At the same time, the intelligent loudness system ensures that the perceived balance of bass, mid-range and treble remains constant at all volume levels to ensure pure, authentic sound at any volume and any speed.

In addition, a customer-defined sound focus makes it possible to preset or change the sound image, optimizing it to the number of people in the car and their position: Driver focused, front or rear seat focused or focusing on all seats, placing the driver as well as any and all passengers at the centre of the listening experience.

The design of the sound system is inimitably Bang & Olufsen. Featuring more prominently than in other Audi models, the sound system matches the powerfully built Audi Q5 perfectly. The seamless integration also applies to the operation of the audio system, which is fully integrated with Audi's built-in Multi Media Interface.
