Kenwood's Digital Radio System successfully supports G8 Hokkaido, Japan Summit

Kenwood Corporation (President and CEO: Kazuo Shiohata; Head Office: Hachioji, Tokyo) announces that its  Digital Land Mobile Radio System supported for the G8 Hokkaido, Japan Summit (conference of major industrialized nations) between July 7 and 9, 2008 as a communication system for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kenwood's Digital Land Mobile Radio System used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs included the NEXEDGETM series of Digital Land Mobile Radio products, newly developed for the Business & Industry market in North America and launched in December 2007.

The NEXEDGETM series of Digital Land Mobile Radio products enables direct communication via Push-to-talk, the same function as conventional radio products, but also unique digital functions including "secure voice", "noiseless communications", "enhancement of data communications" and "wide-area coverage through the use of IP networks" and "multi-channel access using multiple repeaters".

Positioning Digital Land Mobile Radio products for the Business & Industry market in North America as a core strategy, Kenwood is focusing on the NEXEDGETM series and the joint establishment with radio equipment and measuring instrument manufacturers to standardize for the Digital Land Mobile Radio System based on the technical specifications of NEXEDGETM.

With the convenience and reliability of the NEXEDGETM series excelling during the G8-summit, Kenwood will further enhance the Land Mobile Radio business and implement medium- to long-term growth strategies for this new digital technology.
