In the afternoon on the 23rd of September 2008 in Hamburg, a press conference for SafeComNet^TM, FURUNO's new mobile satellite services was successfully held at Hamburg Messe und Congress, the very same venue as SMM 2008 was taking place.

A total of 23 journalists from across the globe gathered at the conference. During the conference, FURUNO together with its partners, Eutelsat and SpeedCast, explained to the audience the number of benefits that SafeComNet^TM will bring to the maritime industry, which include truly seamless, global broadband communication, streamlined payment procedure by means of unification of point of payment and fixed flat communication fees and many more. In the Q&A session after the presentation as well as the after the conference, some intriguing questions are asked from the journalists, which were answered by the representatives from FURUNO, Eutelsat and SpeedCast.
