Cobra Broadens its Bluetooth® Product Lineup with Heavy Duty Handset
BT 200 Pairs with Mobile Phone for Loud and Clear Communication in Vehicles at the Worksite, on the Farm or in the Outdoors
CHICAGO (November 4, 2008) - Cobra Electronics (NASDAQ: COBR) today announced the launch of a new product to enable loud and clear phone conversations in environments when wind or engine noise inhibits communication. The patent-pending BT 200 uses Cobra's exclusive MicroBlueTM technology enabling consumers to make and receive crystal clear phone calls through the noise-canceling handset.
The BT 200 pairs Bluetooth® wireless technology with a combination microphone/speaker handset. The Bluetooth technology capability enables wireless connectivity between a mobile phone and the handset, which provides superior clarity and sound. Incoming phone call audio is routed through the speaker, and outgoing voice audio is relayed through the noise-canceling microphone. This exclusive technology allows user to store their cell phones in a safe, dry place while still enabling them to make and receive phones calls over the loudest engine and wind noise.
"The BT 200 is another option in Cobra's growing line of Bluetooth products that solve a mobile communications need," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president marketing and sales for Cobra. "We used MicroBlue technology to provide better communication during workplace or recreational activities in the tractor, jeep, all-terrain vehicle or snowmobile."
With a design reminiscent of a CB radio microphone, the BT 200 hooks to vehicle with a supplied 12V cigarette lighter adapter. This simple 12V connection allows it to be carried from one vehicle to another. The Cobra MicroBlue technology ensures incoming and outgoing calls are easily heard over noisy engines or in gusty winds. The product has a green call button that begins conversations, a push-to-talk side button that un-mutes the microphone, and a red button that terminates the call.
The new product offers a large, illuminated display; caller ID for incoming calls; auto redial; and a phone book and call log. It is also water, dust and UV resistant.
The BT 200 will be offered at an MSRP of $189.95 at select retailers in January 2009. See www.cobra.com for more details.
In addition to the BT 200, Cobra's 2009 maximum performance XRS radar line, citizens band radios and other mobile electronics products will be on display at this year's Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, November 4-7 in the North Hall, booth # 10953, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
