OPTIMA completes full line of marine batteries with launch of group 27 BlueTop

New product launch coincides with expanded national distribution announcement.

October 13, 2008 (MILWAUKEE) - OPTIMA® Batteries, manufacturer of high-performance marine and automotive batteries, announces the release of a new BlueTop® size - group 27. The addition of this size completes the full line of OPTIMA Spiralcell® AGM marine batteries, which also includes group 34/24 and group 31. With the line complete, OPTIMA gives boaters more options of long-lasting, high-performing batteries.

"We listened to what consumers and retailers have been telling us about their need to have more
options, and we've responded by rounding off our marine line and giving them all the benefits of
an OPTIMA in the popular group 27 size," said Josie Cline, marine brand manager for OPTIMA
Batteries. "Dual-purpose batteries like the BlueTop allow boaters to provide power for stereos,
GPS systems, bilge pumps, fish finders and other high-demand electronics, while still providing
plenty of cranking power to start the motor."

OPTIMA's patented Spiralcell Technology provides up to two times longer life than traditional
batteries, allowing an OPTIMA to withstand up to 350 discharge/recharge cycles and still deliver
a high percentage of the original capacity. In comparison, traditional batteries typically hold that
power for only 40 cycles. The spiral-wound construction enables a higher level of power output
over a longer period of time.

In addition to their longer life, OPTIMA batteries are more than fifteen times more vibration resistant than flat plate batteries, which enables them to endure even the roughest waters at high speeds. All OPTIMA batteries are maintenance-free and completely spill-proof, which helps to prevent corrosion and boat damage.

"We are pleased to be able to offer all the benefits of OPTIMA to the largest segment of boats on
the water today," said Cline.

Expanded National Distribution
Along with its newly completed marine battery line, OPTIMA will begin offering widespread national distribution through a variety of well-known marine and outdoor specialized retailers and distributors.

"While OPTIMA marine batteries have been available for years, we completed our line and are
making them more accessible through extensive distribution channels," said Cline. "Because of the high demand and the positive feedback from our customers, we're doing everything we can to get BlueTops into the hands of all boaters who want to stay on the water longer."

OPTIMA group 27 BlueTop batteries will be available in November 2008 through leading battery
distributors and retailers around the globe. Consumers should ask their dealers for the unique
colored top and six-pack design for which OPTIMA is known around the world. For the nearest
retailer, consumers also can call 1-888-8OPTIMA (1-888-867-8462) or visit www.optimabatteries.com.
