The TUA-T550HD HD Radio^TM Tuner from Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. enables consumers to easily add HD Radio technology as a source to their Alpine head unit.  Twelve head units in Alpine's 2009 lineup are HD Radio Ready with the TUA-T550HD (see list below).

With HD Radio technology, listeners can get static-free, all-digital broadcasts from more than 1,800 AM/FM radio stations nationwide, without any subscription fees.  Users also can enjoy HD Radio multicasting, which allow them to listen to HD2 and HD3 multicast channels above and beyond the main FM station.  More than 900 HD Radio stations offer multicasting programming at no additional fee. 

The TUA-T550HD also provides convenient iTunes® Tagging support for six Alpine head units: iXA-W404, iDA-X305, iDA-X303, CDA-105, IVA-W505 and iDA-X100M.  When users hear a song they like on an HD Radio station, they can "Tag" the song directly from the head unit.  Information about these Tagged songs is stored by the TUA-T550HD and transferred to the connected iPod®.  When the iPod is connected to a computer, iTunes automatically presents the songs in a new Tagged playlist so the user has the option to preview and buy the from the iTunes store.
