Airbiquity Named One Of Washington's Best Workplaces By Puget Sound Business Journal

2008 Finalists honored and winners announced at special event on August 13

Seattle, WA (USA) - July 30, 2008 - Airbiquity Inc., a leading provider of wireless data communications software solutions, was named as one of the finalists for Washington's Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included more than 300 nominees and the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in four different categories have been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 65 companies have made the grade as finalists.

Airbiquity is a wireless solutions provider that creates value for any mobile application requiring high availability and dependable performance across the entire geography. The company was founded in 1997, and has more than 20 active patents for its unique data transport solution called aqLink. The technology enables two-way data transmission over the voice channel of digital cellular networks, making connectivity very cost effective, and delivering service in the largest coverage footprint in the industry. The aqLink modem can transmit data wherever a voice call can be made, and service is therefore not limited to the areas with wireless data coverage. This technology is used today in more than 9.5 million vehicles to enable telematics services, which encompasses remote vehicle diagnostics, navigation, traffic and location-based services, as well as automatic crash or airbag deployment notification.

"We're extremely honored to be named a finalist in Washington's Best Workplaces program this year," says Shane Watkins, director of human resources at Airbiquity. "Our company actively promotes the retention of excellent people. We have an unparalleled team here."

"Work-force development has never been more important - or more difficult - than it is in today's global economy," said Emory Thomas Jr., publisher of the Business Journal. "We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area's top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region's No. 1 resource: its people."

The finalists - 20 small companies, 20 medium-sized companies, 20 large companies, and five nonprofits - will be celebrated at a one-of-a-kind awards event at Safeco Field on Aug. 13. Honorees and the public alike are invited to come cheer for the workplace accomplishments of these companies from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The celebration will include ballpark food and drink, walking the bases, caricatures by award-winning Business Journal cartoonist Milt Priggee, speed pitching, and an awards presentation. The company with the greatest number of employees present will win a suite at a future Seattle Mariners game.
