NAV-TV Corporation Joins AUTOSAR
Categories: Industry News
NAV-TV has been named an Associate Member of the prestigious AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) partnership. The AUTOSAR standard serves as a platform upon which future vehicle applications will be implemented and will also serve to minimize the current barriers between functional domains.
Boca Raton, FL and Detroit, MI, October 17, 2008 - NAV-TV®, the industry leader in vehicle network integration technology for infotainment and telematics device optimization today announced that it has joined the AUTOSAR development partnership as an Associate Member.
Support of the AUTOSAR initiative complements NAV-TV's commitment to the automotive OEM industry standards. As a strong supporter of open architecture within the vehicle and common industry standards, NAV-TV will help shape these standards within the OEM automotive industry. NAV-TV has always been on the forefront of technology and actively involved in shaping the future of advanced systems and software development by participating in leading industry organizations such as MOST, CEA and SAE.
"As an AUTOSAR member we will be able to provide even better support for our current and future automotive customers worldwide," said Moni Melman, CEO of NAV-TV Corp. "With the AUTOSAR initiative to establish an open standard for automotive networks and electronic architecture, the automotive industry is taking a major step towards standardization of these components, allowing for scalability, maintainability and modular aftermarket subsystem integration. Having the AUTOSAR framework embraced by the automotive community will further increase the value of adopting AUTOSAR for automotive OEMs and suppliers."
Within the modern automobile, electronics are making cars more safe, comfortable, economical, and environmentally compatible. Today's vehicles are mobile networks on wheels; however, if the number of electronic control units (ECUs) continue to be utilized in the future, the complexity of in-car electronics will become very difficult to manage. An important step in managing this complex network is the AUTOSAR standard, which defines uniform interfaces for software modules and makes them independent of the hardware (ECU) for the most part. As an associate member of the Autosar consortium, NAV-TV will continue to push the envelope of development of these modular architectures.
About AUTOSAR:
The goal of the partnership is the establishment of an open standard for automotive E/E architecture. It will serve as a basic infrastructure for the management of functions within both future applications and standard software modules. Key objectives include implementation and standardization of basic system functions as an industry wide "standard core" solution, scalability to different vehicle and platform variants, integration of functional modules from multiple suppliers and maintainability throughout the whole "Product Life Cycle". The AUTOSAR scope includes all vehicle domains. For more information, please visit www.autosar.org.
