ADVENT'S Quick Connect Mobile Video Headrest Wins CEA'S 2009 Innovations Honoree Award
| Modular System Ideal For New Car Dealer Pre-Load Solutions |
| LAS VEGAS - International CES, Booth 11006-1050 - January 7, 2009 - Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX). Advent has introduced Quick Connect, a headrest mobile video system that received a CEA 2009 Innovations Honoree Award for its unique installation concept and added profit opportunities for car dealers. Audiovox brought Quick Connect to market to extend its leadership in rear seat entertainment by exploring new technology that provides car dealers with profit opportunities and the consumer with new entertainment options.
Advent's Quick Connect headrest includes two seatback mounting pods, and a removable 7-inch monitor with a built in DVD player. It can be run as either a dual or single DVD system depending on how it is installed so back seat passengers can watch either the same or different content at simultaneously. As an added benefit, Quick Connect contains all the features found on higher end rear entertainment systems at a much lower cost. The 7-inch screen features 16:9 or 4:3 selectable, wide views with integrated DVD players. "Advent Quick Connect is just what the name implies, a fast install that provides dealers with the ability to pre-set an entire vehicle lot inventory as rear seat entertainment ready," said Tom Malone, president, Audiovox Electronics Corporation. "Installation is simple and unlike many other types of mobile video systems, the Advent Quick Connect does not require any alterations to the vehicle's interior. The pod is so unobtrusive that if the consumer does not purchase the system, nothing need be removed. In this difficult time for car dealers our system offers an added profit opportunity at a minimal cost." To install the Advent Quick Connect, the dealer simply removes the factory headrest retainer clips and headrest, pops the pod on the top of the seat then reinstalls the clips to lock the pod firmly to the top of the seat. The headrests are then returned to normal position. The monitors snap into the pod rather then being cut into the headrest and are easily removable to deter theft. The vehicle is shown on the showroom floor with dummy monitors in place that are replaced by functional monitors once the vehicle is purchased. If the buyer does not purchase the system with the vehicle, a plug is placed on the pod and the pods and cabling remain installed so that the system can be added easily at a later date. The Advent Quick Connect provides the new car dealers with the capability to pre-load a rear seat entertainment system at an affordable price, which can increase the dealer's profits and be a perfect match for new vehicle buyer's needs. Sold in a single or dual DVD configuration, each system comes complete with wired headphones, two seat-top pods with black/gray/tan covers to match any vehicle and a slim-line remote control. Optional wireless, fold-flat headphones and a wired or wireless FM modulator are available. Malone continued, "We believe that dealers will quickly understand the advantages of selling the Quick Connect System. New vehicles can be pre-loaded with these seat pods and equipped with dummy monitors for the showroom floor. Even if the system is not purchased drive-off cost is kept to a minimum and we have found that the business case indicates more buyers will drive from the lot with a complete system than without." ############################# Audiovox (NASDAQ:VOXX) is a recognized leader in the marketing of automotive entertainment, vehicle security and remote start systems, consumer electronics products and consumer electronics accessories.
