KYOCERA's iBurst System Provides Uninterrupted Mobile Broadband Wireless Access with a True Reuse Factor of One
CTIA Wireless 2009 Booth #4850
KYOTO, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kyocera Corporation (NYSE:KYO)(TOKYO:6971) introduces its iBurstTM System for Mobile Broadband Wireless Access (MBWA) as a leading mobile communications solution, which provides seamless mobile coverage by achieving a reuse factor of one (1). The system is standardized at ANSI as HC-SDMA, and the enhanced version is IEEE802.20 625k-MC.
Kyocera's iBurstTM System uses practical and effective features to achieve the goal of universal service coverage. Adaptive Array Antenna and GPS-synchronization technologies deliver a reuse factor of one (1) - where base stations are overlaid, operating over the same spectrum, thus providing continuous service coverage without interference in border areas. Continuous service coverage is especially important for mobile data services - without which, the service would not realistically be available, or would suffer from frequent session interruptions. A reuse factor of one (1) is best explained in terms of base station installation flexibility: When service volume at a specific location becomes high, additional base stations can be easily installed without creating service interference or interruption - and requiring no change of plans in spectrum allocation design.
In the market for wireless mobile broadband, service providers realize that an MBWA system must have high spectral-efficiency - taking into account a limited resource of frequency spectrum and its corresponding acquisition costs. As today's end-users demand high speed, reliable access to rich content on the internet - video, music, and photos - at an affordable, flat-rate subscription, Kyocera's iBurstTM System, with its ultra-high spectral efficiency of 7.3 bit/sec/cell/Hz*, provides an optimal solution to meet the needs of both service providers and end-users.
Kyocera will be displaying its iBurstTM System and other products at the International CTIA Wireless 2009 tradeshow at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more information, please visit the Kyocera booth (#4850) in the Main Hall.
iBurstTM operators worldwide have formed the iBurstTM Association (iBA), a not-for-profit enterprise advocating the promotion and development of iBurstTM technology as a preferred MBWA solution.
