I3A Members Receive 20% Discount
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The International Imaging Industry Association (I3A; http://www.i3a.org) has opened a Resources Store on its Web site, powered by a state-of-the-art e-commerce engine. The Resources Store, located at http://www.i3a.org/resources/ and open to the public as well as to I3A members, simplifies the purchase of I3A standards, specifications, recommended practices, testing metrics, technical reports, white papers and other materials developed by the organization.
A highlight of the new e-commerce facility's offerings is the packaged results from Phase 2 of I3A's ground-breaking Camera Phone Image Quality (CPIQ) Initiative (http://www.i3a.org/technologies/mobile-imaging/cpiq/). These publications consist of seven technical documents that contain an initial set of definitions and test methods for image quality metrics, plus additional files of supporting materials. The CPIQ Phase 2 package is available as a download for $195 (U.S.) or as a DVD for $230. I3A members receive a 20% discount on this and any other purchase.
"We're pleased to offer our members and supporters this easy way to acquire what they need from the offerings that I3A's Initiatives, Committees and Working Groups have developed over time, ranging from ISO standards tools to imaging equipment import-export reports to the newest camera phone image quality test metrics," said Lisa Walker, I3A President. "Our new Resources Store will help fulfill our mission to benefit the imaging community around the world, by making it simple to obtain vital information."
I3A's CPIQ Initiative seeks to improve overall image quality in order to enhance the use and enjoyment of camera phones by consumers. The group's ultimate objective is to produce a complete set of standardized image quality testing metrics and methodologies, enabling a consumer-oriented image quality rating system.
CPIQ Phase 2 delivered an initial set of specific objective methods for measuring camera phone image quality attributes, with specific tools and validated test methods to facilitate standards-based communication and comparison among carriers, handset manufacturers and component vendors regarding imaging performance. Subjective test methods were then developed and applied to correlate and validate the impact of each of these metrics on actual perceived image quality.
The particular Image Quality attributes covered by CPIQ deliverables include:
- Acutance -- Spatial Frequency Response (SFR)
- Color Uniformity
- Geometric Accuracy: Lens Distortion
- Lateral Chromatic Aberration
- Texture
Work began on the final, critical CPIQ Phase 3 project on September 9 at a face-to-face kickoff meeting in Santa Clara, California. Interested companies are invited to join the CPIQ Initiative and influence this crucial last stage: contact Noel Mareno at noelm@i3a.org or +1 214-244-1927; note that membership in I3A is a prerequisite for participation.
