Samsung Mobile Announces Comprehensive Commitment to Deliver Support, Innovation and Services to Enterprise Market

Plan Focused on Strong Carrier Relationships, Enterprise Support and Broad Application Development Ecosystem

CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2009

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the United States1, Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) has unveiled a new initiative to drive growth in the enterprise mobility market. Samsung Mobile's comprehensive commitment to increase market share in the fast-growing enterprise segment will drive enterprise business value with new innovative applications and additional device options that will fuel end-user adoption and increase sales of Samsung Mobile enterprise capable devices through carrier relationships.

Samsung Mobile's commitment to compete in the enterprise market is anchored by providing an organization to support carriers' client-facing teams. Samsung Mobile is working with carriers to deliver value-added services that enterprise customers desire, including enhanced network and security connectivity; pre- and post-sales support; and native operating system (OS) and application development support. Furthermore, to accelerate business application innovation across multiple operating systems, Samsung is leveraging capabilities of the Samsung Mobile Innovator program to cultivate a broad ecosystem of system integrators (SIs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) who are interested in developing custom solutions for the enterprise.

"Enterprise customers want the ability to empower more members of their mobile workforce to realize the promise of anywhere, anytime access to information," said Gavin Kim, vice president, Content, Data Services and Enterprise Mobility, Samsung Mobile. "We are excited to expand Enterprise support and sales capabilities and deliver a broader ecosystem of value-added Enterprise mobile solutions in concert with our Enterprise capable devices to expand Samsung Mobile's Enterprise market opportunity and support our carrier alliances.

The mobile marketplace has grown and become more fragmented. Different mobile operating systems, different form factors and phone features and different carrier requirements have created challenges for mobile developers to not only develop applications, but to market those applications to the enterprise. As part of Samsung's current initiatives to expand its enterprise-focused ecosystem, it launched the Samsung Mobile Innovator (or "SMI") global program (http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/) to focus on solving these issues by giving mobile developers the tools they need to develop and market mobile applications, widgets and ideas for different Samsung phones.

Samsung Mobile continues to leverage SMI to further build out its enterprise ecosystem through joint enterprise-focused collaborations with ISVs like DiVitas Networks and Agito Networks. DiVitas and Samsung Mobile recently announced that they, with support from Microsoft, have successfully worked to enable Enterprise-class fixed mobile convergence and unified communication on Samsung Mobile phones based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform.

During CTIA WIRELESS IT & Entertainment 2009, Samsung and Agito will jointly unveil a public demonstration of the first commercially available server-based enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) and mobile Unified Communications solution with functionality on Samsung Mobile smart phones. In addition, Samsung Mobile will demonstrate mobile solutions from Salesforce.com, DiVitas and Oracle operating on Samsung Mobile Windows Mobile devices. All four demonstrations will be showing at the Samsung Mobile booth - No. 635.
