Categories: Industry News Car Audio Speakers
Las Vegas, NV (January 7, 2010) - Kenwood USA Corporation announced the introduction of seven new speaker models designed exclusively for sale and installation through Kenwood Excelon retailers.
Beginning with the KFC-X1730P 6 ½" component speaker system ($320.00 suggested retail price), this model uses a new cone geometry that incorporates a glass-fiber material giving the cone excellent strength and bass response. The mid woofer cone also incorporates an equalizer dust cap to improve vocal clarity and realize a strong sound stage. This component set also includes an improved 1" silk-down tweeter with neodymium magnet and multiple mounting options for more installation possibilities. Audiophile-grade polypropylene film capacitors are included in the external crossover networks, a true sound quality benefit in reducing high frequency distortion caused by typical lower grade capacitors. A coaxial version of this component speaker system is the KFC-X1730 ($180.00 suggested retail price) and provides similar performance using a polypropylene cone with Diamond Array pattern. The KFC-X1730P and KFC-X1730 are both CEA-rated at 110/100 watts (RMS) with maximum power rated at 330/300 watts.
The KFC-X173 ($130.00 suggested retail price) is a highly-affordable, 6 ½" coaxial speaker with premium Kenwood Excelon technology such as a hybrid polypropylene cone with Diamond Array pattern, plus a ¾" silk-dome tweeter for extended high frequencies and wide sound dispersion. The neodymium magnet used on the tweeter allows for its compact size. A 5 ¼" version is the KFC-X133 ($130.00 suggested retail price) and is suitable for 5 ½" / 130mm applications.
Three special application models are new in the Kenwood Excelon speaker line for 2010. The KFC-X693 ($180.00 suggested retail price) is a 6" x 9" 3-way speaker system with a Diamond Array pattern cone, 1" silk dome midrange and ¾" balanced dome tweeter. A unique low-distortion speaker basket design reduces unwanted resonance, resulting in clearer mid-bass and mid-range performance. An application-friendly 6" x 8" model is the KFC-X683C ($180.00 suggested retail price), which has a
1 ¼" balanced dome tweeter, a Diamond Array pattern woofer cone and a low-distortion speaker basket. For 4" x 6" size requirements, the KFC-X463C ($130.00 suggested retail price) is the perfect choice. A 1" balanced dome tweeter is used along with the Diamond Array pattern woofer cone, coupled with a low-distortion speaker basket with multiple mounting holes on the basket flange to accommodate various factory mounting hardware configurations.
The KFC-X1730P, KFC-X1730, KFC-X173, KFC-X133, KFC-X693, KFC-X683C and KFC-X463C come with a two-year warranty and are available only through authorized Kenwood Excelon retailers.
