There are many kinds of equalizers ("EQ" for short). Each has a different pattern of attenuation or boost. A peaking equalizer, for example, raises or lowers a range of frequencies around a central point in a bell shape, allowing the listener to adjust the gain, bandwidth, center frequency of the sound, and so on. If you like to fine-tune your tunes, this is the place for you.
