I don't know if it is the user (me) or my TomTom GPS, but I need an address in order for my TomTom to find where I need to go. However, I have used a Garmin GPS before and was able to find by name Starbucks or Kentucky Fried Chicken in those emergency situations ... ;-) ... OK, Garmin wasn't that perfect either. I misspelled Starbucks without the ending "s" and Garmin wasn't able to locate any coffee shop. I spelled out KFC, but apparently, Garmin likes the abbreviation more and wasn't able to do a search when KFC is spelled out. Sigh.
I am also wondering if it has anything to do with the manufacturers, Garmin - U.S. and TomTom - Europe. Perhaps there is some software that I can download to my TomTom that can locate Starbucks or KFC by name.
Additionally, if I mainly use my GPS in the U.S., should I stick with Garmin?
Between the two GPS used in cars and trucks, Tomtom has been the most reliable in GPS systems used. Now included as car/truck parts, it is now used everywhere on the road.
My tom tom gps is not 100 percent reliable, oftentimes it yields erroneous results. but i cant blame it, most gps car part out there have issues like this.
