I have wanted to buy a Satellite Radio for my car. I first looked at buying a unit that would directly sync up with my factory built headunit. Unfortunately this would not allow me to see all the titles and songs since I have an older headunit. I am sure I am not the first to deal with this problem.
So I decided that I was going to have to go with devices that would be out in the open. Of course that is just one more thing left out for everyone to know what you might have available in your car to steal. I have been able to integrate my radar detector so that it stays hidden and my phone sits in a charger when I am in the car. My GPS goes up and down off the dash so many times its crazy. So how can we keep protecting all of our gear from everyone else that might want us to part with it.
I bought the Pioneer XMP3 player which plays both XM and Sirius radio now that they have merged. I sought the advice of five installers to see how I could install this little wonder of technology and keep it out of sight. Unfortunately there weren't going to be too many options unless I didn't want to see the screen at all. One day we might be able to buy a vehicle and have all our little gadgets integrated seamlessly into the vehicle, but that day hasn't yet come.
So I had to buy yet another suction cup holder to stick on my windshield which now brings the total to three. I had to upgrade my power supply to now power three devices. I have heard of some people even having four. Lastly I had to locate an older piece of technology that was actually a little hard to find that I thought it was going to be. If you remember the days when you had a cassette player in your car and you need the adapter to carry the music from your portable CD to your car stereo. Well if you look for one now its quite hard. Just go straight to Radio Shack. No one else has them. How crazy but I guess not to many people are looking for them. Will not wanting to leave wires hanging out from the back of my dashboard so that people would know that something else might be available if they broke in to the car was reason enough for me to live a life of putting my gadgets up and down from the glove box. Of course its like I am doing a pre flight before takeoff to make sure all of my instruments are ready to go.
Anyway I was just a little curious to hear anyone else's stories of hiding their gadgets and gear to foil thieves.
