Why so slow?

Does anyone know why either Garmin or TomTom is so slow to power up and find the destination? Either seems like there is always a satellite reception issue, even driving in an open area or on the freeway within 3-5 minutes of powering up. What's up with that? Does anyone know what interferences are intolerant to either of these navigation systems? Thanks.

Hi all; I am an happy owner of Oregon 550t and I would like to know which method or guide to follow to visualize on the gps more independent tracks pieces simultaneously and together with the preloaded map. The problem is that if I load these tracks pieces as a single track (since in this gps is not possible to view more tracks at the same time), all the final parts of the pieces are connected with the beginning of the following piece making the vision very difficult. For this reason I would like to to convert the track to a map and then import it in the gps and put on top of the preloaded map. As an alternative i could first download the preloaded map from the gps to the pc, insert the track and import everything again. Note that is not important that the gps follow this track, It could only show it for example like a river; I don't need any navigation function but only see the track with no connecting lines between the pieces. Does someone of you know the procedure to do this as simple as possible? All what I have now are hundreds...

100-MPG Fleet Vehicle Hybrid Concept Van

Bright Automotive, a startup lead by a veteran of GM’s EV1 program, unveiled their concept eco-conscious hybrid utility van called the “Idea” at the Capitol on April 21st, 2009. equipped with premium truck parts , the truck will offer low operating costs for fleet managers and less pollution than current technology. To meet the 2012-2013 target date, the company is looking to the Department of Energy for a $450 million loan to start production. The company also plans to make this a ‘made in America’ product. The Bright Idea (a name too clever by half!) is aimed squarely at fleet customers -- the local cable company, the post office, that sort of thing. It's got lots of room -- 180 cubic feet, to be exact -- and a 2,000-pound payload. With a 50-mile, all-electric range, the Idea sounds like a great urban delivery rig.

CarGo is a concept pickup truck that has the unconventional design, created by designer Adam Schacter. The said pick up truck is a single seater and it is battery operated, also added to its features is the ability to change its wheelbase and load carrying configuration depending on application. The CarGo's discount truck parts has its unique features: In “compact mode” the CarGo folds up like origami to function as a compact car with the cargo box nestled vertically against the cab like a trunk. “Narrow mode” extends the wheelbase slightly for improved stability plus it enables the CarGo to bank around corners, like a motorcycle. “Pickup truck mode” fully extends the CarGo’s wheelbase to allow the cargo box to sit flat. The cargo box can also be widened on-demand. Vehicle length is changed by adjusting its rod-in-tube-style chassis, like raising or lowering a bicycle seat.is this innovative battery powered vehicle that boasts of variable track, wheelbase and load carrying configurations. It features a Compact Mode, Narrow Mode (with banking corner action) and Pick-up Truck Mode. The Compact Mode sees the Pick-up section flushed to the back of the cabin.

Hi, I recently bought a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe w/out satellite radio and had Tweeter (which is no longer in business) install a dash kit (Metra 99-7874). When the car heats up, either due to the heat on hot days or in winter due to the heater, the dash kit starts to sound junky, making a crackling sound, especially when the car goes over coarse pavement. I don't think it is the radio, but the dash kit which seems to be made of a plastic materia. Does anyone have this kind of problem and any advice on what i can do. Can't bring it back to Tweeter as it went out of business. Thanks, Terry

Mileage Tool wouldn’t it be nice… I am a sales guy. I drive, keep track of my mileage and report to our admin department. Ideally at the end of every month I receive a check compensating me for the amount of “professionally motivated” miles/km driven. To be perfectly honest I do not know whether or not my calculations and reconstructions of routes using google maps are always accurate. I usually use outlook for my appointments and sit down every months end figuring out distances between different destinations. This is a rather time consuming way of keeping track of my travels… A mileage tool can greatly improve efficiency and accuracy. A small device with a GPS Transponder can keep track of every movement of your car during a user-defined time period. You will never forget any route you have taken, rerouting and times you got lost and had to go the extra mile will also be taken into account automatically. The only thing you have to do is put the device into your car (the integrated magnet can mount onto any metallic surface) and take it out once a month to download the data, print out a report and add your...

First glance at 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

For too long the American market has lacked an affordable, accessible, fast, responsive, fun, communicative, good-looking rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is that car. Finally. A glance at the spec sheet and you know this is going to be an impressive car. There's two engines: a 3.8-liter V6 with 306 HP and 266 Lb-Ft of torque or a 2.0 turbo with 210 HP and 223 Lb-Ft. The 3.8 will run 0-to-60 MPH in 5.5 seconds and top out at 149 MPH. The 2.0T takes 6.8 seconds to reach 60 and tops out at 137 MPH. It's lighter than an E46 BMW M3 (3,294 Lbs for the 2.0T, 3,389 for the 3.8; the M3 is 3,415 Lbs), yet its chassis is 24% stiffer. Suspension is MacPherson front, five-link rear. Roll bars are 24mm front, 19mm rear. At 2.7 turns lock-to-lock the rack-and-pinion is quick and accurate. For more info about the car, check the site here: http://jalopnik.com/5189896/2010-hyundai-genesis-coupe-first-drive ____________________ wiper blade

The robust Mercedes-Benz G-Class has reached a significant milestone by celebrating its 30th birthday thus cementing its place in the proud 120-year history of the Mercedes-Benz marque. The G-Class off-roader is the longest-serving passenger car series by Mercedes-Benz and has remained largely unchanged since arriving on the market back in 1979. It is no wonder why it has achieved cult status around the world with roughly 200,000 units sold. The G-Class is mostly used for off-road travels, equipped with high performance parts : aluminium wheels, flexible wheel arch flaring, protective grilles for the headlamps and lights, a walk-on bonnet for easier access to the optional roofrack, a towing lug at the front and a two-section rear door, this really is an all-terrain vehicle.

I have wanted to buy a Satellite Radio for my car. I first looked at buying a unit that would directly sync up with my factory built headunit. Unfortunately this would not allow me to see all the titles and songs since I have an older headunit. I am sure I am not the first to deal with this problem. So I decided that I was going to have to go with devices that would be out in the open. Of course that is just one more thing left out for everyone to know what you might have available in your car to steal. I have been able to integrate my radar detector so that it stays hidden and my phone sits in a charger when I am in the car. My GPS goes up and down off the dash so many times its crazy. So how can we keep protecting all of our gear from everyone else that might want us to part with it. I bought the Pioneer XMP3 player which plays both XM and Sirius radio now that they have merged. I sought the advice of five installers to see how I could install this little wonder...

Does anyone know how to sound-proof an office space? I would think that it is like sound-proof a room for a home theatre system. If there is such sound-proofing out there, I am wondering if it is a do-it-yourself or does it require professional installation? Someone told me that it can be done for $1K. Is this right?
