i want to power a head unit indoors and after much internet searching have decided to use a pc power supply because it seems to be the most cost efficient way of doin it. But i am now struggling to figure out exactly how to wire it to my head unit..... have tried many youtube videos but they arent made clearly enough to tell exactly which wires they are using. i was wondering if anyone could help me out or lead me into the right direction i would b very grateful thanks
[Read more]

Nostalgia - Mini Disc Head Units

Some of you are laughing, and some of you are scratching your head, wondering what a MiniDisc even is. I have many fond memories of driving around in one of my first cars, young, wild, and free (wait a minute.. I'm still young, wild, and free... right?) with the company of my Sony MiniDisc head unit. I still have it, and I bet it still works. MiniDiscs were great before the advent of cheap MP3 players - they allowed you to create your own custom "mixes," and they were housed in durable plastic cases. That means I could toss it into the backseat without worrying it would get ruined. And, it sounded great :) Anyone still have one of these, or even still using one? Share your memories of this forgotten format!

Head Unit Brand Preference

What's your favorite head unit? I've always used either Sony, Kenwood, or Blaupunkt. They seemed to provide the best balance between price and what I was looking for in my car audio system. Never too many features, and on the lower end of things, but they were all reliable and got the job done. Which is your favorite brand, and why?

iPod Integration - Best Head Unit?

I am currently using a Sony head unit in my Hyundai Tiburon, the CDX-GT420IP, which is a somewhat basic head unit that offers iPod integration. What was nice is that it integrated right with my factory system! My 5G iPod plugs right into the cable from the back of the unit, and powers the iPod. The head unit's control then takes over, and I am forced to use the head unit to control the iPod. I find that this interface is quite slow and it's really difficult to quickly navigate to what I want. Which head units feature better iPod integration? What has your experience been with iPod integration in the car?
